Secret Bay in Dominica is an eco-luxury resort nestled among lush rainforests and stunning clifftop villas. It offers a perfect blend of comfort, privacy, and breathtaking Caribbean beauty.

Welcome to Paradise
Arriving in Dominica, we stepped into a world of total serenity. Dominica, known as the “Nature Island of the Caribbean,” presented a stunning blend of lush landscapes and seclusion. No other Caribbean destination I have been to matches this level of tranquility.
Checking-In to Our Stay
Upon arrival, the staff greeted us with refreshing lemongrass iced tea, which set the tone for a relaxing stay. After check-in, an electric vehicle brought us to our one-of-a-kind clifftop villa. The resort offers electric vehicles during your stay, and the staff make sure you reach your destination efficiently. You can also opt for the funicular (available for cliffside villas) for another scenic route to and from the villa.

A Private Paradise: Clifftop Zabuco Honeymoon Villas
We stayed in the remarkable Clifftop Zabuco Honeymoon Villa II. The villa had a private plunge pool with an expansive deck and stunning views. It featured an outdoor shower for those refreshing moments in nature and a shaded hammock sofa suspended beneath the villa. This spot was ideal to sway and soak up the surroundings. With a vast open terrace and lounge areas, this was the ultimate place to savor morning coffee. It was also perfect for enjoying sunset cocktails and private swims under the stars. Fun fact! We learned the local term “Zabuco” means “apricot,” a fitting name for a villa rooted in natural beauty.

Morning Indulgence with Private Host & Chef
One of the most unique aspects of our stay at Secret Bay was the private breakfast experience. We enjoyed it with host and chef, Safiya. From perfectly baked bread, fresh eggs, and tropical fruits, each bite was a delightful taste of island living. Her warmth and attention to detail made breakfast the perfect start to our day. Every dish was crafted with care. We enjoyed our mornings from the villa’s open terrace. The views of the lush landscape and blue ocean were a true luxury.

Evenings at The Pavilion
Each night we made sure to enjoy Secret Bay’s Pavilion, a new addition since our last stay. The outdoor lounge area, with panoramic views, was a great spot to unwind while watching the sunset. We also met the resort’s General Manager, Craig Sands, who brought a personalized touch to the guest experience.

Exploring Secret Bay’s New Additions
Secret Bay had plenty to explore. We were thrilled at how much the resort had grown in the past 3 years.
New Additions to Secret Bay’s Luxurious Resort:
- The Pavilion dining venue featured a rooftop deck for tapas. It also had a more formal restaurant on the main level (Bwa Denn Restaurant). Dining at Secret Bay’s new Bwa Denn Restaurant presented exceptional Caribbean flavors. The Lobster Ravioli with coconut and turmeric sauce was a standout dish crafted by Executive Chef Aurelien Bulgheroni.

- The newly added pool with deck bar created a refreshing spot to relax in style. Surrounded by the sounds of nature, it felt like a private oasis within the resort.
- The open air fitness center was also a great addition to active guests seeking both wellness and tranquility.
- One delightful surprise during our stay was the homemade kombucha, crafted right at Secret Bay. Unlike traditional brews, theirs is uniquely made with green tea. This gave it a light, refreshing flavor, perfectly complementing the tropical surroundings.
- A new art gallery and boutique celebrated the creativity of Dominica, showcasing artwork and crafts by local artisans. You can even buy the incredible creations featured in the art gallery here.

A Special Moment: Sea Turtle Release
We were fortunate enough to witness an exciting release of baby sea turtles! High tides were threatening a nearby nest, so, the turtles had to be carefully relocated. Watching the tiny turtles make their way to the water was magical. They were guided only by instinct. It was a reminder of the delicate nature that Secret Bay strives to protect!

Checking Out & Heading to Fort Young Hotel
After checking out of Secret Bay, we headed over to Fort Young Hotel, in Roseau, the capital city of Dominica. As Secret Bay’s sister property, Fort Young offered a different yet equally appealing atmosphere and stay.

The hotel featured a scenic pool, hot tub, and well-equipped fitness room. Outside the fitness room, a jersey signed by Thea LaFond, Dominica’s first gold medalist in the 2024 Olympics was displayed. We spent some time exploring the hotel’s museum, which showcased local artists and their work. Our final dinner took place at the seaside restaurant, where fresh seafood and ocean views made for another unforgettable meal.

Why You Should Stay at Secret Bay in Dominica
Our return to Secret Bay and visit to Fort Young Hotel were memorable from beginning to end. Secret Bay’s recent upgrades elevated the resort to an even higher level of luxury. Secret Bay is perfect for anyone seeking a blend of seclusion and luxury. Fort Young Hotel also offers a convenient and lively base for exploring Roseau, Dominica.
